• MIPT applies for a visa invitation for you ( fill out the Visa Application Form and send it to the foundationcourse@phystech.edu)
• Ministry of Interior Affairs makes the visa invitation within 30 days time and sends it to MIPT
• MIPT sends the visa invitation to the applicant by email
• The applicant visits a Russian embassy or consulate in his home country, submits the invitation and makes the visa. Usually it takes about 10 days, but it depends on each individual place of issue.

Foreign citizens must take a PCR test 2 days prior to the departure. In Russia, PCR tests are no longer needed.

You will definitely need a Russian SIM card during your stay in Russia. You can buy them almost anywhere. For this you will need a passport. The most popular mobile operators are:

Federal Law No. 274-FZ of 01.07.2021 On the Introduction of Amendments to the Federal Law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation" from 29 December 2021 introduces mandatory fingerprint registration and photography together with a medical examination (for infectious diseases, HIV and drug addiction) for foreign citizens who have arrived in Russia for purposes other than work for a period exceeding 90 calendar days.

The mandatory medical examination costs around ₽6,000-20,000 for each time you enter Russia (as of May 9, 2022).

For this you will need:

• Passport
• Temporary residence permit (i.e. registration)
• Notarized translation of your passport into Russian
• Copy of the main page of your passport
• Copy of your visa
• Migration card

Procedure:

• Make a medical testing at one of the medical centers listed below.
• Book an appointment for fingerprinting at one of the My Documents offices listed below
• Make a fingerprinting at the Ministry of Interior Affairs according to your appointment
• Collect your fingerprinting certificate
• Send your certificate to foundationcourse@phystech.edu

MIPT offers assistance to preparatory course listeners in providing a health insurance policy. Obligatory medical insurance services cost around ₽8,000 / year.

  Either online: https://students.energogarant.ru/insurance-registration. Please attach your MIPT pass card as a confirmation of your student status to fill the agreement.

According to Russian laws, each foreigner must have a residence registration in Russia, at the place of his/her stay. If you stay at one of MIPT dormitories, our Migration Office will make the registration for you. For this you will need:

• As soon as you arrive in Russia, send your migration card and all pages of your passport, even empty ones to the MIPT Migration Office: migrationservice@phystech.edu
• Wait for a feedback from the preparatory office and monitor your emails from time to time (phystech email as well, if you have it)
• Receive an email from the Migration Office that your registration is ready. (If you have waited for 2 or more weeks, please contact migrationservice@phystech.edu and ask whether it is ready).
• Visit the Migration Office and take your registration: room 312, Auditorium Building, MIPT, house 7b, Pervomayskaya Ulitsa street, Dolgoprudny

You can get a student pass at the Pass Office. Be sure to take your passport with you: New Building, MIPT, house 5, Pervomayskaya Ulitsa street, Dolgoprudny. Turn left as soon as you enter the building and you will see the Pass Office.

The Migration Office extends visas for foreign students and listeners. To extend your visa, you will need to:

• Be sure that you have your registration (temporary residence permit in Russia) received.
• Ask for the cheque for visa extension by email migrationservice@phystech.edu or in person: room 312, Auditorium Building, MIPT, house 7b, Pervomayskaya Ulitsa street, Dolgoprudny
• Pay the check at the bank: 40, Pervomayskaya street, Dolgoprudny>
• Submit your passport*, migration card, photo 3x4, paid cheque for visa extension to the Migration Office: room 312, Auditorium Building, MIPT, house 7b, Pervomayskaya Ulitsa street, Dolgoprudny. You should also submit your Russian degrees/certificates if you have any.
• Collect the certificate confirming that you have submitted your documents for visa extension. You must take it with you wherever you go, since the police can ask for this document if they meet you on the street.
• Wait for about 30 days and receive an email from the Migration Office notifying that your visa is extended and you can collect your documents.
• Visit the Migration Office in person and collect all your documents: room 312, Auditorium Building, MIPT, house 7b, Pervomayskaya Ulitsa street, Dolgoprudny.

* Please note that if you urgently need your passport, contact the Migration Office by email or in person. Highly likely they will be able to give it to you for some period of time.

• Get a chest X-ray report in your home country and translate it into Russian.
• Arrive at your dormitory.
• Contact the head of the dormitory to make the accommodation agreement.
• Get the keys for your room and accommodation.

MIPT provides every scholarship listener with a hostel accommodation in modern houses on the territory of the Campus. Self-paid listeners may get accommodation, subject to availability.

Zyuzino dormitory: Russia, Moscow, Kerchenskaya Street, 1Аk1

Accommodation fees: ₽1,715 / month (as of 2022 intake)

It is a 15-storey block-type dormitory located in Moscow. Listeners can enter until 1am; guests until 11pm.

Each block consists of a room-for-two, a room-for-three, a toilet and a shower (separate bathroom). There are shared kitchens on each floor. Smoking is prohibited. On the third floor there is a library with fiction books and learning materials and educational literature. Paid Wi Fi available: MIPT-telecom or Yumos.

Within walking distance there is a rubber-coated football/volleyball box and a sand-coated box. The dormitory is surrounded with a vast forested area with ponds and park.

It is a corridor-type dormitory located in Dolgoprudny. Students live in separate rooms-for-three. Each floor has two shared kitchens and two shared washrooms. Smoking is prohibited. On the first floor there is a reading room and a club with fiction books and learning materials and educational literature. Paid Wi Fi available: MIPT-telecom.

Listeners can do laundry in the paid washing room with low fees. There are several gyms and a swimming pool within walking distance.

Prior to each time you leave your dormitory for more than 24h, you must send an Application for Leaving the Dormitory. In case you leave for more than 72h, you must promise to register at the place of your stay and re-register when you are back at MIPT.
