How to Apply for PhD Programs

Step 01

Check your favorite MIPT program for the successful future

Please note! MIPT Phystech provides Russian taught and English taught programs

Step 02

Check entry requirements of your program and please do not forget to take advantage of Tuition fee waiver

Russian-taught

To be enrolled to a Russian-taught program please make sure you have a sufficient level of Russian language or you are more than welcome to the MIPT Pre-university courses

  • Passport (or ID) copy with registration and visa+ legalization and notarized translation into Russian
  • A sufficient level of Russian language to pass an exam or certificate of completion of the MIPT Pre-university courses
  • Master’s or a Specialist’s degree Diploma (with transcripts) + legalization and notarized translation into Russian. *If the previous credentials were obtained in Russia, the candidate should submit one of the following documents: Master’s Degree diploma (with supplement) or Specialist's diploma (with supplement)
  • CV (including educational awards, results of academic competitions, and scientific publications)
  • Cover letter
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Regarding the legalization procedures you can find information via the link

English-taught

  • Passport (or ID) copy with registration and visa+ legalization and notarized translation into Russian
  • Proof of English proficiency (B2 or equivalent)
  • CV (including educational awards, results of academic competitions, and scientific publications)
  • Cover letter
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Migration card/visa (If you apply online bring these documents to the MIPT Visa & Registration Office upon arrival)
  • Master’s or a Specialist’s degree Diploma (with transcripts) + legalization and notarized translation into Russian. *If the previous credentials were obtained in Russia, the candidate should submit one of the following documents: Master’s Degree diploma (with supplement) or Specialist's diploma (with supplement)

Notice, it is necessary to pass the interview to be enrolled on some programs

Step 03

Visa information & medical insurance requiments

  • To enter Russian Federation most foreign nationals or stateless persons need a Russian visa and an official invitation for a visa application
  • Original signed passport valid for at least 18 months before expiry date with at least 1 clear blank visa page available for the visa stamp
