Program Highlights

Leading Russian and foreign scientists are giving lectures and seminars in biophysics, aging, and age-related diseases, methods of modern biophysics and their applications, physiology and neurobiology, bioinformatics and theoretical biophysics, and genomics. A part of the classes is held online. In addition to workshops, students are involved in current scientific activities of the MIPT laboratories with the possibility of internships, as well as other joint educational and research programs, including double degree programs with leading foreign Research Centers.

Program Outcomes

Graduates of this program should gain:

Proficient knowledge of modern biophysics methods for protein structure solution (e.g. cryo-EM, X-ray diffraction)
Knowledge of modern biochemical methods for protein expression, purification, stabilization and crystallization
Ability to work with nucleic acid sequences, to experimentally investigate, design and modify genetic constructions, to create genetically modified microorganisms
Basic proficiency in genomic and structural bioinformatics: abilities to search and analyze genomic sequences and macromolecular structures, design mutations, identify possible ligands and drug candidates and prepare scientific illustrations
Basic knowledge in nervous system molecular physiology and experimental approaches for their investigation (electrophysiological and microscopic methods)
General understanding of the modern theories of aging and age-related diseases
